Edmonton Skate Season Is Here — Project Rad Is a Great Place to Start
The snow is finally gone, and the pavement is dry. If you’ve been thinking about getting your kid into skateboarding or picking it back up yourself, now’s a pretty good time to look into it.
Project Rad Skateboarding runs youth skateboarding lessons right here in Edmonton. They’re certified, community-focused, and genuinely care about making the sport accessible to every kid who wants to try it.
What Project Rad Is About
Project Rad was built around the idea that every kid deserves a chance to learn skateboarding, regardless of experience or budget. Their coaches are Skateboard Canada certified, boards can be borrowed, and the whole approach is built around fun and confidence over performance.
They teach through games and challenges rather than drills. Falling is treated as a normal part of learning — not something to be embarrassed about. Most kids start landing their first tricks within a few lessons, but the real thing you notice is the confidence that builds along the way.
Lesson Formats
There are four options depending on what works for your family:
- Private Lesson — $50/hr — One-on-one, goes at your kid’s pace. Good for focused learning or kids who do better in a quieter setting.
- Small Group — $100/month — 3–5 kids, skill and age matched, once a week for four weeks. Nice balance of instruction and social energy.
- Beginner Jumpstart — $80/month — Up to 10 kids with 2 coaches, once a week for four weeks in a private indoor facility. Great starting point for ages 6–13 who’ve never skated before.
- Parent & Kid Duo — $125/month — You and your kid learn together. Once a week for four weeks, in small groups.
Skateboards can be provided for all formats, and lessons take place at local Edmonton skateparks.
